It has been somewhat of an eventful day. I just arrived in the LA area and I have some time to kill before I go back home.
Things That Make You Go Hmmmmm:
-Why does Sea World have a seafood restaurant? (Got that from Willy).
-Cheesy quote from Charlye: Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. (Hmmmmmmm... Dancing through life, no need to tough it).
Today Arlyn emailed me and I was so thrilled to hear from her. I miss my neighbor/sister/former roomie!
What do you think people say about you when you leave the room?
I think that people will say I'm confused but I have a good heart. I think people will say that it seems like I know better than others because I tend to be defensive/argumentative. I think my family will say I'm silly and I shouldn't worry too much. I think my best friends would say I have a funny attitude about life. I think some people will say what the heck is she doing in her life. I think my brothers would say I'm the Princess (which is 100% true). I think some people will say I'm spoiled (which I totally disagree with and you can beg to differ. I don't care because I'll call you a hater whose sippin' on that ice cold HATERADE coz I get paid twice as much as you doing half the work that you do). I think some people will say I'm lazy which I can be at times, but that's to balance the times I work my butt off. I think people will wonder why the heck I'm using a good chunk of my time doing community work.
And frankly, my dear, I don't really give a damn [what people say/think].
Back to the last thing I think people say when I leave the room... On Friday, the festival marketing committee along with Abigail and Ed went to promote the fest at a local Filipino grocery store in the South Bay. Unfortunately, the response we got from a good handful of people wasn't necessarily one that I'd hope for. I'm used to rejection - I work in an industry where you have to compromise with rejection day in day out. However, the rejection from fellow Filipinos not giving a damn about what we are doing for the community is rather disheartening because I know for damn sure that myself along with a few others have been caring so much about this event. I'm not doing this to make myself look good or because I want credit for it. I am doing this because I want to help showcase the good things that we do in our community, that's all.
So when I'm trying to give out a flier and some "Auntie" Bitch (yeah, that's right I'mma call her "Auntie" Bitch) looks at me and screams bloody murder "ANO BA YAN!? IYAW KO!" it makes me wonder if we are ever going to get passed the generation gap. I believe if we can't rid of the stereotypical depiction, it will be hard for us to move on with certain social issues here in the United States. Am I the one who is wrong or is she? Maybe I shouldn't take it so hard when people just don't give a flying fuck. Sigh. Eyes on the prize, Kat.
And one more thing... FUCK people who try to use the COMMUNITY for their personal benefit/business. That's just straight up WRONG.
End rant.
I seriously have a lot more time to kill here, but whatever! Haha. I'm hungry, let's go eat.
